Leaf & Botanics launched " Mother Soap Setouchi Olive " and " Hand Soap Setouchi Olive " on October 8, 2025 (Wednesday). These soap cleansers are designed to both "remove dirt" and "wash hands moist" by taking advantage of "Nippon no Yoshimono," or "good things of Japan," called "olive pomace" produced in Hiroshima Prefecture.
Olive pomace is the residue of olive oil (labeled as olive fruit). Like olive oil, it contains mainly oleic acid and acts as an emollient. Matsuyama Oil & Fats, Inc. dries and crushes pomace, an olive fruit produced in Hiroshima Prefecture, which is purchased from Yamamoto Club in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, and blended into Mother Soap. It is blended into Mother Soap.
The fatty acid has the ability to maintain the foam. The olive pomace also protects the skin during and after washing, leaving it smooth after rinsing. The developer shared the prototype he felt was "the one" with the Yamamoto Club, who said, "We hope you will make the most of the olive pomace," and the result is "Mother Soap Setouchi Olive.
The solid Mother Soap contains dried and crushed olive pomace, while the liquid Hand Soap Setouchi Olive contains an extract of olive pomace as an ingredient to condition the skin of the hands. Both Mother Soap and Hand Soap have a fresh, deep citrus scent. Two types of essential oils, lemon and lemongrass, are combined.
With this "Setouchi Olive", Matsuyama Yushi will continue to explore ways to utilize Japanese ingredients together with producers.
