Two or three times a year, Matsuyama Oil and Fat holds an event called "Open Factory. One of the most popular programs at these workshops is "making original soap. Children and adults alike seem to enjoy the process of making soap by scenting the " soap base " with essential oils of their choice.
Kettle-fired soap base is available for purchase in our online store. How about making soap for children to play indoors during the cold winter? Your child's handmade soap might make a nice present for their grandparents when they return to their home country. By the way, even adults get absorbed in the process of making soap by hand.
What to prepare
Kettle soap base 100g, hot water (about 40℃ ) 1 tablespoon
Plastic bag with zipper, madeleine molds, baking cups, cookie molds, etc.
■How to make
*Adults should always accompany small children. Please be careful not to burn yourself with the hot water by wearing gloves, etc.
(1) First, spread paper on the worktable to prevent soap from sticking to it.
(2) Put 100 g of the soap base into a plastic bag with a zipper. If you wish to add fragrance, add essential oil at this point. Be careful not to let the essential oil come in contact with your skin. To prevent irritation, the amount should be limited to a maximum of 1g (about 25 drops in the case of Leaf & Botanics "Relax Days Essential Oil", Yamashin Kaju Yakusoen "Skin Shaving Essential Oil", and Hokuroku Sosui "Essential Oil" ). (3) Close the mouth of (2) and shake well, then open the mouth and sprinkle 1 tablespoon of hot water evenly over the soap base inside.
(4) Knead well through the bag while crushing the dough to make it as soft as an earlobe.
(5) Remove (4) from the bag and shape it. Press the dough into madeleine molds, baking cups, or cookie molds, little by little, until there are no gaps. *Put plastic wrap over the inside of the cups to make it easier to remove the soap later.
(6) Remove the soap from the mold and let it dry in an airy, shady place for about 5 days.
■Cautions for use
If you have any skin problems or if the product does not suit your skin, please stop using it. If it gets into your eyes, do not rub and rinse well under running water immediately. When making soap for infants, do not mix with essential oil.
